HAA - THE HIDDEN LAND RICE VALLEY

Haa is a southern district in Bhutan that shelters the town of Ha. One of the smaller Bhutanese districts, it expands up to an area of 1706 square kilometers. Haa is inhabited by the locals who still adhere to the Bon religion, that concentrate on worshipping the forest spirits and energies of Nature. Haa is the ancestral home to the Queen Grandmother and is a pristine chunk of land that is still untouched by the influences of modern life. Haa is still comparatively unexplored by the tourists and is richly covered with virginal forests that withhold some of the most exotic natural treasures ever known to man.

PLACES TO CHECK OUT IN HAA

The White & Black Temples

Legend has it that a white and a black dove settled in two hilltops where the respective temples are built. They sat on the hills that were representatives of the three Bodhisattvas, hence hold religious significance.

The Haa Summer Festival

All of the indigenous tribes come together to perform their unique dance forms, exhibit their traditional attires, showcase their cuisines and cultures in a colorful get-together. It is a great event to attend.

The Haa Gompa is associated with Bodhisattva folklore. A pigeon flew towards the site where the monastery was supposed to be constructed. The bird emanated sounds of horns & trumpets to signify the presence of a holy site.
